SENIOR AUDITOR [*] (Inspector General's Office)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with 15 semester hours in accounting supplemented by three years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working with a variety of computer hardware and software platforms, networking, information security practices, telecommunications technology, and CAATS tools.
NOTE: RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:
An applicant must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago. Proof of residency will be required at the time of employment.

CAATS Specialist / Data Analyst
DUTIES:
- Provides technical assistance for complex audits, investigations and other activities for the Office of Inspector General.
- Works directly with department Investigators and Auditors providing investigative assistance through the use of various computer assisted audit techniques (CAATS).
- Performs information system audits for outstanding cases including identifying and executing audit and investigative approaches and making recommendations for action.
- Utilizes a variety of computer techniques and systems to identify, convert and extract data and computerized files from various City systems and external sources.
- Provides advanced data analysis, using computer and audit software packages, to assist department audit and investigation teams identify exceptions and areas of potential fraud within data.
- Assists in carrying out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness and efficiency of City programs and policies.
- Provides objective and professional evaluations of operations and assists in developing recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental operations.
- Analyzes information leading to the initiation of criminal and administrative investigations of City employees and vendors doing business with the City.
- Performs specific audit procedures and prepares work papers documenting the audit procedures and analysis performed.
- Reviews and tests new data analysis software to increase the office's ability to perform high-level data analysis.
- Prepares detailed work reports documenting audit findings for investigative and audit teams.
- Conducts special studies and projects as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
