Quarterly Reports

Pursuant to its ordinance, the OIG is required to file a Quarterly Report no later than the 15th of January, April, July, and October of each year. The law requires the OIG to publish statistics on investigations opened, closed, and sustained during the quarter. However, in order to keep City government and residents better apprised of OIG activities, the OIG also publishes its Quarterly Reports with narrative summaries of sustained OIG investigations, policy reviews and recommendations, audits, and hiring compliance reviews. This way, Chicago residents and officials can have a better measure of the OIG role in improving City government.

Prior to the revision of the Quarterly Reports to include narrative detail in the first quarter of 2010, the most comprehensive descriptions of the office’s activities were the Inspector General’s statements to the City Council during the annual budget hearings. These statements can be found on our speeches page.
