Quarterly Reports
Pursuant to its ordinance, the IGO is required to file a Quarterly Report no later than the 15th of January, April, July, and October of each year. The law requires the IGO to publish statistics on investigations opened, closed, and sustained during the quarter. However, in order to keep City government and residents better apprised of IGO activities, the IGO also publishes its Quarterly Reports with narrative summaries of sustained IGO investigations, policy reviews and recommendations, audits, and hiring compliance reviews. This way, Chicago residents and officials can have a better measure of the IGO role in improving City government.
Prior to the revision of the Quarterly Reports to include narrative detail in the first quarter of 2010, the most comprehensive descriptions of the office’s activities were the Inspector General’s statements to the City Council during the annual budget hearings. These statements can be found on our speeches page.
